SEB Bank has granted €600,000 in financing to SIA “Medicīnas centrs” for the “Kuldīga Doctorate” project, supporting the development of regional healthcare infrastructure in Kurzeme. The financing is intended for refinancing the first phase, improving the funding structure and strengthening the foundation for further development.

Kuldīga Doctorate is a modern outpatient healthcare center, established through the reconstruction of a historic building and the construction of a new extension on the site of a former hospital on Smilšu Street in Kuldīga. It was opened in October 2025 as the first phase of a broader development project aimed at creating a medical center of regional importance. During the first phase, a 727 m² facility was developed, comprising six family doctor practices, a radiology department (CT, X-ray, mammography, and ultrasound), as well as specialist consultation rooms.

“The granted financing is a significant investment in improving the quality of life for residents of Kurzeme, as the Kuldīga Doctorate promotes the development of modern, accessible, and sustainable healthcare services in the region, while also supporting local economic growth,” said Arnis Škapars, Member of the Management Board of SEB Bank.

“Our goal is to ensure that high-quality, multifunctional medical services within modern infrastructure are available not only to the residents of Kuldīga but to the entire Kurzeme region. We are pleased with our cooperation with SEB Bank, which is helping us bring this vision to life,” said Kristaps Eglītis, Member of the Management Board of SIA “Medicīnas centrs.”

The establishment of Kuldīga Doctorate is only the beginning of a broader development plan. Future phases will include the development of rehabilitation services, the establishment of a day hospital and day surgery unit, as well as the expansion of diagnostic capabilities and related healthcare services, including a pharmacy and medical goods retail.

Construction of the second phase is currently underway, involving a 980 m² building scheduled for completion by the end of this year. The third phase includes the construction of a new 1,800 m² building, which is planned to be completed by the end of 2027.
